Lil' Book Worm

Madeline is going to grow up to be a book worm like her Kyledad. The second she wakes up in the morning, or if she wakes from a nightmare in the middle of the night, she wants to be read to. Every few weeks she develops her favorite group of books that will change again in another few weeks. She will beg us to read them over and over. Over and over and over. She pays close attention, memorizes the words, and reads them back to us, or to herself. She does a really good job at it too. If it is a particularly long book, she will invent her own story. It is fun to watch.


Atticus is on close watch for Maddie this week too. She has been beating up on him. Either she is jealous, terrible twos, or can't handle one jelly bean. She came up to me yesterday and asked me to read to her, I said I couldn't because I was holding Atticus. So Maddie raised her book and whalluped Atticus over the head with it. Time out. Then later she offered Atticus a stuffed animal that has weighted feet full of sand. Maddie looked like she was being very loving of her little brother, offering him the toy. When he grabbed for it, again she swung the toy down over his head.
